Sir: I should like to add a postscript to the recent correspondence about the whereabouts of Wilfred Owen's grave (Letters, 26, 27, 31 March).
I recently stood before his headstone in Ors and was intrigued by the ingenious way its inscription imparts to one of Owen's poems (The End) an affirmation of the Christian faith. 'Shall life renew these bodies?' it says, 'Of a truth, all Death will he annul.' The memorial fails to point out that Owen's answer to this question was no.
Yours faithfully,
DALE SCARBORO
