Sir: Further to Michael Keyte's account (Letters, 10 November) of having landed at Orly nine years before you reckon it was born (Diary, 4 November), there is in my log book an entry dated 7 December 1945 to the effect that I flew Liberator J of 206 Squadron to Orly, not to marry a wife but to enable a young Waaf Equipment Officer to acquire strips of artificial runway, then in short supply in the UK.
However like Mr Keyte, I married the girl.
Yours faithfully,
DAVID BEATY
