l AS AN allotment holder, I would like to add some comments to your leader, ("Every right to boil over", 13 August). Allotment holders are seen as easy game by water companies. Droughts bring early hose bans on the plots while the neighbouring golf course still uses its sprinklers and car washes are in full operation. Protesting letters to water boards bring either condescending banalities or no reply at all. We pay more in water rates annually than we do for renting the land. Further, the standpipes are switched off for six months of the year because, we are told, of possible frost damage
