l "MEN must give a little", (20 August). How true. They must give up an electoral system that allows one party an ideological ticket to ride without the support of the electorate (poll tax? rail privatisation?). Why not give real democracy a try by using a single transferable vote in small, multi-member constituencies? The government elected would be one with which more than 80 per cent of voters identified, and include more women without the need for controversial quotas.
