CHRISTIAN physicist Russell Stannard is quoted ("Proofs of God in a photon?", 24 December) as agreeing that a central issue is the universe's origin. If God is offered as explanation, then we must ask how God originated. It is easier to accept an eternal god than seek the source of quarks and gluons, but that does not make it more likely to be correct.
