From Mr Robert F Newell Sir: Vicky Ward states that it is not only the Oxford and Cambridge, but almost all the London Clubs that are impervious to society and that most women don't really give a fig about joining London's clubland. I would have to disagree as, of the 51 clubs that form the Association of London Clubs, there are at least 12 that accept women as full members. The Royal Over-Seas League, of which I am the Secretary, has thousands of clubbable women members who share the facilities with their clubbable gentlemen counterparts in perfect harmony. I am sure this applies also to the other clubs where they are welcomed as full members.

Yours faithfully, ROBERT F. NEWELL Chairman Association of London Clubs London, SW1
