PERHAPS one side of George Orwell would have been pleased to be canonised by the Church of England ("Saint George Orwell would be better", 16 July). But the better side, the man who fought with the International Brigades and wrote the brilliant Homage to Catalonia, would have been horrified to be identified with such a stuffy and reactionary body as the C of E.
