ARE THE women who were interviewed in your article 'And the nurse makes three' (Review, 7 November) aware of the vast amount of free expert help that is available? I am a practising midwife. We provide 24-hour maternity cover seven days a week. Help and advice is only a phonecall away. This help is available until 28 days after delivery. Midwives provide an 'on-call' rota system and will visit regardless of the time of day or night. This is in addition to the daily visits that the midwife undertakes.
Instead of wasting money on a 'maternity nurse', who does not have the commitment or expertise of a midwife, may I suggest they donate their money to their local maternity unit.
