THE account of the rapid development of homo sapiens, a mere 60,000 years ago, following a lengthy occupation by homo erectus, was fascinating ('March of the timewalkers', Review, 10 April). What happened to homo erectus? Were they eaten by homo sapiens or could they have survived and be the vast crowds who attend rock concerts?
