GERALDINE Bedell ('Base to chopper: down here the crook's escaped', 10 April) has still not done the Duke of Edinburgh the justice of explaining that the republican smear about his spending pounds 5m every year cruising round the Caribbean arose only from an official visit he paid to the islands last year, and she only mentions the least arduous of his engagements.
