CAPTAIN Moonlight suggests that yellow lines might indicate approval, rather than disapproval, of parking. Whichever would result in less paint would be best - but wherever they are painted, making the lines a nice, solid, mid-blue, easily visible to would-be parkers, but far less disfiguring to the urban streetscape, would be even better.
