HELENA Kennedy's comments confirm that the main object of any committee appointed to award a literary prize is to boost their own egos ("How we met", Review, 11 February). "I remember we resisted going for the obvious choice." Why? Ordinary people have bought it and ordinary people like it - if we choose that people might think we are ordinary.
