Sir: In Christian Wolmar's amusing piece on the RAC Centenary Time Trial (1 February) one vital piece of information was cut. Our chief executive, Neil Johnson, only went through a red light to allow a fire engine to get past to attend an emergency.
A sad postscript to the time trial is that the cycling winner, Kevin Delaney, the RAC's traffic and road safety manager, was knocked off his bike two days later by a coach. We hope that Kevin gets well soon and gets back on his bike.
