Letter: Far-fetched theory

Sir: The term "toe rag" is extensively used in the Royal Navy. It is believed it comes from the first Sino-British war when "`Tao rag" was used as a derogatory description for the local Chinese newspaper.

This is, of course, completely untrue, but no less believable than many of the increasingly daft definitions in the letters you have published during the last few weeks.
