ACCORDING to your report of National Front infiltration in the Hounslow Conservative Association ('Tories to expel NF candidate', 7 November) Nirj Deva is 'the first Asian Conservative Member of Parliament'. Sir Mancherjee Merwanjee Bhownagree was Conservative MP for North-East Bethnal Green from 1895 to 1906, nearly a century earlier.
