Uri Geller suggests he could only "put the sceptics to rest" by winning pounds 10m on the lottery (Real Life, 3 November). This is a strawman argument. All he has to do is demonstrate one of his claimed paranormal abilities under controlled conditions in the presence of a respected sceptic such as James Randi, the psychic investigator. That he hasn't been willing to do so says more than anything about his claims. Let him do a demonstration and earn pounds 1m from the awards available to him. I will donate pounds 1,000 to a charity named by Geller, but I predict there will be no reason for me to write the cheque.
