DAVID BOWEN says that 'Air France's pilots went on strike last week in protest at Mr Blanc's proposal to cut bonuses' ('A report to wave at protectionists', Business, 18 September). This is untrue. There was no strike. For the record, the pilots' unions did file a strike warning under French employment regulations, but the threatened action for 16 and 17 September did not materialise. Discussions between management and unions took place over the weekend and an agreement has been reached which has eliminated the need for any further strike threats.
