I WAS disappointed that Part 2 of your 'Family Guide to Summer Britain' (Review, 3 July) didn't mention the piers at Southend and Brighton. The former is the world's longest and has a tramway and museum. Brighton boasts two of these essentially Victorian structures, with the West Pier regarded as the finest, architecturally speaking, and the Palace Pier probably the best of later designs. But let's not forget the many similar structures that grace the coastlines in East Anglia and the South Coast.
