The sale of artist Fernando Arias's tattooed signature struck a horrified chord in me ("Signed, sealed, delivered", Real Life, 2 March). Like Mr Arias, I am an artist who does not sign her work and for similar principles - quite often in galleries visitors do not even look at a painting, just the name tag, and it is that which determines their reaction.
I am appalled that any human being could encourage another to slice off a chunk of skin by offering to pay for it and that such atrocities should be delighted in by our art world.
