Outrageous! That is the only word to express my disgust at John Redwood's plans to privatise nature reserves in Wales (22 January). Is the man mad? Is he dreaming of turning Britain into a dictatorship? What next? Toll booths on The Horseshoe (a challenging path leading to the top of Snowdon)?

The Countryside Council for Wales should stand firm and not allow Mr Redwood to succeed. Perhaps they would be wise to remind him that one day his descendants may wish to walk freely in a wildly beautiful country without having to pay the price (of privatisation).
