Multiplication of a housewife's work

Sir: David Knell (Letters, 5 February) is presumably a childless bachelor, or what is worse, still thinks like one. However, just to point out to him the flaw in his calculations: he needs to imagine he is cooking for and washing for 2.5 children and performing those tasks while hampered by their 'help'.
