Redhill is no high flyer : LETTERS

YOUR Business front-page article "Third Heathrow runway to be ruled out in bid for terminal" (29 January) concerning runway capacity in the South-east contained some ill-informed and unbalanced comments regarding Redhill Aerodrome. Redhill is by no means an "existing feeder airfield" - it is a small airfield with a grass strip runway situated in the green belt and it is used mainly for teaching and leisure flying. Evidence at last year's public inquiry, including that from the Civil Aviation Authority, demonstrated that increased flight traffic at Redhill would interfere with air traffic control at Gatwick and that overall capacity could not safely be increased. The inquiry threw doubt on the developers' claims concerning employment and local disturbance which were quoted in your article.
