A good day for:

Airline pilots, with the news that children have stopped flying kites along the approach to Colombo airport in Sri Lanka. Airlanka flight crews had complained about kites and strings obstructing the approach, but they stopped after police explained the problem. Officials say the kite threat is now a thing of the past.

A bad day for:

Desmond Davey, of Tasmania, who was fined around pounds 1,000 for quacking like a duck on his radio transmitter. He was convicted for broadcasting something that was not speech.
