Plan B, Azealia Banks and Goldfrapp are to headline this summer’s Love Box festival in East London.

Music: Red Snapper Dingwalls, London

Red Snapper - the thinking junglist's quartet. Well, that's how they might cheer themselves up in one of their bleaker moments. Not that they've got a lot to feel down about - between the jazz and dub influences which their preference for real instrumentation immediately suggests, along with the visceral contemporary break beat, Red Snapper have mastered a tricky brief. It's just that Roni Size's output isn't a million miles away in form and approach, and look how far he's got. Oh well.

The Knack: How to dance to drum & bass

Drum and bass is basically funk music. Period. Just like house in 1986, it revolutionised and initially confused. It was the shock of the new. Drum & bass is now the most likely form of music to fill the dance floor at our night, The Electric Chair. It's stripped-down raw funk and huge basslines - what more do you want from the local disco?

Music: And not one of them a turkey

No, those aren't our music critics below - that's Prodigy, creators of just one of the CDs we'd like to find under the Christmas tree

Pop: Size does matter

Critics describe Roni Size as selling out to popularity. But, as he explains to James McNair, to him it's much more important that everybody gets a go.

Rock Review: Why Roni Size really does matter

You Can please some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you'll never stop people sniping about the Mercury Music Prize. If the judges go for the obvious option, they're accused of ignoring the cutting edge. If they pick the cutting-edge contender (ie, any proponent of dance music), they're condemned for being trendy. And if they pick a classical, jazz or folk album ... well, that never happens.
