Hana Kimura plays word association

Hana Kimura, the pro wrestler and star of the Netflix series Terrace House, has died at the age of 22.

Stardom Wrestling, the organisation which Kimura was part of, released a statement on Friday, saying: “We are very sorry to report that our Hana Kimura has passed away.”

“Please be respectful and allow some time for things to process, and keep your thoughts and prayers with her family and friends. We appreciate your support during this difficult time.”

After starting her career as a decorated wrestler, Kimura joined Netflix’s Japanese docu-soap Terrace House: Tokyo in its 20th episode.

Kimura had posted troubling social media messages to her social media pages in the days before her death.

Tributes to the star have already poured in online. “Distraught,” wrestler Jamie Hayter wrote. “I don’t even know what to say or feel. Numb. I can’t express it.”

“Such a wonderful human being. The gaijin helper. All the potential. A beautiful soul. Kind. I just can’t even put in to f—ing words how upsetting this is. I hope you found peace.”
