Unfortunately for the President, the book has sold huge numbers, digital sales having already reached 250,000, and audio sales exceed 100,000.
Mother Jones has since spoken to the publisher, Henry Holt — an imprint of Macmillan — who expect to sell the 1.4 million hard-cover copies currently on order.
Fire and Fury is therefore projected to sell in excess of 1.75 million copies, which would mean Wolff’s book should eventually sell more copies than Trump’s own bestseller Art of the Deal.
That book — released in 1987 and co-authored by Tony Schwartz — has sold an estimated 1.67 million, judging by statistics currently available and estimates on how many copies have sold since Trump became President.
Trump once called the Art of the Deal the “number one selling business book of all time”, something that has been proven false on multiple occasions, Dale Carnegie’s How to Win Friends and Influence People having self over 30 million copies.
There remains some question over whether Fire and Fury will outsell Trump’s own bestseller, one sales executive pointing out how fickle the news cycle can be. However, with a TV show based on the book coming out soon, sales are expected to continue for the foreseeable future.
