Kindle bestsellers: 'Dear John,' 'Food Rules,' 'The Lightning Thief'

On Amazon.com's list of weekly bestselling Kindle e-books, released February 9 by Publishers Marketplace, the top three titles for the week ending February 6 are Dear John by Nicholas Sparks, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, and The First Rule by Robert Craig. Non-fiction books Food Rules and On the Brink have also climbed into the top ten, the first time since late October that non-fiction titles have made the list.

The romance Dear John, published in December 2009, is in the number one spot following the release in the US of a feature film based on the novel. Kathryn Stockett's The Help has been an enduring best-seller in print and electronic versions since it was published a year ago. Robert Craig's The First Rule, published January 12, is the newest installment in the bestselling author's Joe Pike crime series.

Michael Pollan's Food Rules: An Eater's Manual is number six on the list. Pollan is an American writer who covers food-related issues, including nutrition and agriculture, and Food Rules is a 70-page "manual" of simple, sometimes humorous eating rules, such as "Don't eat anything your great-grandmother wouldn't recognize as food."

The Lightning Thief is a young-adult fantasy novel, released in 2005 as the first title in Rick Riordan's Percy and the Olympians series. The book is in the top ten in anticipation of the release of a film based on the novel.
