Book review: Royal Sex, By Roger Powell

Surely the most alluring title in the limitless library of royal titles turns out to be a comprehensive if sanitised account of regal bits on the side.

Powell's carnal canter ranges from James I's canoodling with Robert Carr ("he leaneth on his arm, pinches his cheek") to Di's fancy man James Hewitt, who "did not come from a gentry or aristocratic background".

But there is no mention of Wallis Simpson, still less the legendary Singapore Grip, while a discreet veil has been drawn over the leaked phone calls from Prince Charles to Camilla.
