Brie Larson in talks to play Captain Marvel
She's apparently leaning toward the role.
Oscar winner Brie Larson is in talks to play Captain Marvel, the studio’s first female superhero to have their own standalone film.
Sources told Variety that Larson is Marvel’s first choice for the role of Carol Danvers, an air force pilot who received superpowers after an explosion fused the genetics of a nearby alien soldier.
Larson, who's recently won an Oscar for her role in the Room, is said to be leaning toward playing the part. She’s also appeared in 21 Jump Street, Scott Pilgrim and Short Term 12.
Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige recently told io9 that he would hire a director and cast by summer 2016. However, no directors have been signed for the project.
Captain Marvel is scheduled to hit theaters in March 2019.
