Ranging from pollination to pollution, this survey of environmental cinema opens with the bee-based documentary More Than Honey, then closes next Saturday with Jeremy Irons in the global-waste travelogue Trashed (pictured above).

In between, a buzzing bill of talks and screenings – 50-plus over 17 cities – aims to entertain and enlighten, with off-the-grid films including Valley of Saints, a love story set against a politically fraught backdrop, and Solar Taxi, a road movie like no other.

Alt-travel ideas also fuel The Man Who Lived on His Bike, part of a stuffed shorts selection that also sees Stephen Fry narrating Aardman's very touching The Lonely Dodo.
