Andy Serkis has made himself the go-to name when it comes to motion capture performances, but let's not forget that it all began with one creature: The Lord of the Rings trilogy's Gollum.

The actor dropped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to chat his latest project, War for the Planet of the Apes, which has seen him win rave reviews for his work as Caesar, the leader of a tribe of genetically enhanced apes at war with the human populace.

Caesar may prove a strong, competent, and moral leader; yet, Colbert asked Serkis to revive his most beloved character to read out some tweets from a leader who encompasses absolutely none of those traits.

Leaping onto the couch, the actor wheeled out his Gollum voice to read a few of Trump's most inane Twitter rants, including that infamous covfefe incident.

War for the Planet of the Apes takes place two years after the events of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, as the war between humans and apes rages on. After the apes start suffering heavy losses, Caesar must face his darker side and take on the opposition's leader The Colonel.

Serkis is joined by Woody Harrelson, Steve Zahn, Judy Greer, Karin Konoval, Terry Notary, and Amiah Miller.

War for the Planet of the Apes is out now.
