Assassin's Creed movie: Behind the scenes clip shows a lot of new footage
'You have to show him who he really is'
Despite most video game adaptations being severely disappointing (see Warcraft), there’s still a lot of expectation surrounding the upcoming Assassin’s Creed film.
For the film, Fox has reunited Macbeth’s Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, and director Justin Kurzel, while adding the like of Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson, and Khalid Abdalla.
At this year’s E3, Ubisoft debuted a behind-the-scenes look at Assassin’s Creed, featuring some stunning new footage and more story hints.
Notably, like in the game, we are reassured the story will focus on the centuries-old battle between Templars and Assassins. There are more nods to the game’s story, particularly at the end of the clip, when Cotillard’s character tells Irons: “You have to show him who he really is.”
There’s also a lot of footage from the present day, which may seem odd when the games are primarily set in the past; perhaps the story will mainly focus on the manipulative company we presume Irons’ character runs.
Recently, the first trailer for the film dropped, giving us our first look at Fassbender in all his assassin-y glory. Assassin's Creed is set for release 30 December.
