Batman v Superman release date: Dawn of Justice is now coming a month earlier
Sequel will be out in 3D on 25 March, 2016
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has brought its release date forward to avoid competition with Marvel's Captain America 3.
Warner Bros had previously vowed not to move Zack Snyder's Man of Steel sequel from its 16 May 2016, but eventually one of the studios had to give, with it now set to be out in 3D on 25 March, 2016.
"Everybody likes to imagine a flame war that'll start over this but it's not," Captain America: The Winter Soldier co-director Joe Russo previously told Digital Spy.
"It's two big movies on a date - neither studio is crazy enough to eat up each other's profits. At some point, somebody's going to move off the date."
Batman v Superman suffered an unconfirmed plot leak earlier in the week, which claims that Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne will be in his fifties and that Batman will be little more than an urban legend when the film begins.
Henry Cavill will return as Superman in the sequel, with Gal Gadot joining as Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg playing villain Lex Luthor.
Though we're still well off a teaser trailer, the first footage from the film was shown at Comic-Con last month, seeing conflict between the two superheroes.
