Bohemian Rhapsody: New images of Rami Malek as Freddie Mercury in Queen biopic released

While the upcoming Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody may have had a troubled production, the results are already looking stunning.

20th Century Fox, the studio behind the movie, have released new images of Rami Malek as frontman Freddie Mercury.

The first production still sees Malek as Mercury standing before a huge crowd at Wembley Stadium, a recreation of the band’s iconic 1985 Live Aid show.

Another sees the singer backstage at a show alongside Gwilym Lee as Brian May.

Both images debuted at CinemaCon earlier this week, where a trailer was also shown (although has not been released online).

Bohemian Rhapsody has had a very troubled history, having initially been announced in 2010, with Sacha Baron Cohen scheduled to play the character. Following creative differences, the actor was soon replaced with Ben Whishaw, who was then replaced by Malek.

Last year, initial director Bryan Singer was also replaced, with Dexter Fletcher – who was originally set to direct the movie in 2013 but departed following creative differences with one of the producers – coming on board as replacement.

Scheduled for a 2 November release, the movie also stars Mike Myers, Tom Hollander, and Aiden Gillen.
