Brett Ratner: Warner Bros severs ties with producer amid six allegations of sexual harassment
Ratner's accusers include actors Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge
Warner Bros and Brett Ratner have decided to part ways in the wake of the sexual harassment claims levied against him.
The news, reported by THR, follows a statement issued by the producer in which he responded to sexual misconduct claims made by six women, including actresses Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge.
“In light of the allegations being made, I am choosing to personally step away from all Warner Bros.-related activities,” he said. “I don’t want to have any possible negative impact to the studio until these personal issues are resolved.”
As a consequence, Ratner will be removed as producer on the film adaptation of best-selling Donna Tart novel, The Goldfinch.
Ratner had a first-look deal with the studio.
The Los Angeles Times published the accusations from all six women in full which included Munn's claims that he masturbated in front of her in his trailer when she went to deliver a meal on the set of his 2004 film After the Sunset.
Ratner, through his attorney Martin Singer, “categorically” and individually disputes the women's accounts.
“I have represented Mr. Ratner for two decades, and no woman has ever made a claim against him for sexual misconduct or sexual harassment,” Singer said in a 10-page letter to The Times. “Furthermore, no woman has ever requested or received any financial settlement from my client.”
Kevin Spacey also faces serious allegations following Star Trek: Discovery star Anthony Rapp's claim that he was assaulted by the actor as a 14-year-old in 1986 - three further accusations have come to light with the Oscar-winner revealing he is "seeking evaluation and treatment."
