Captain Marvel trailer teases origins of the Avengers
'You think you can find others?'
“There was an idea, to bring together a group of remarkable people, see if they could become something more,” said Samuel L Jackson’s Nick Fury midway through the Avengers.
But before Captain America, Iron Man and The Hulk battled hand-in-hand against Loki, there was another superhero Fury employed who was “just the beginning” of that initiative.
Yes, we’re talking about Captain Marvel – the Skrull-crunching, villain kicking hero played by Brie Larson who will debut on big screens later this year.
The latest trailer for the Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck-directed flick features some very teasing dialogue between Fury and the still-alive Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg), further hinting at the link between Captain Marvel (set in 1995) and the Avengers.
“You think you can find others?” Coulson asks.
“She’s just the beginning,” a two-eyed Fury responds.
The new footage also reveals some banter between Larson’s hero – whose non-superhero name is Carol Danvers – and Fury, where she teases him about SHIELD, and also includes a brief look at Ronan the Accuser, who appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy.
Captain Marvel reaches cinemas on the 8 March. Before then, find out how the film will fit into the Marvel Cinematic Timeline here.
