Emma Stone is in talks to don Cruella de Vil’s iconic furs for a 101 Dalmatians origins film.

The US actress is reportedly in early negotiations with Disney, which hopes to start shooting later this year.

Kelly Marcel, the Bafta-nominated screenwriter behind Saving Mr Banks and *ahem* Fifty Shades of Grey, is writing the script but as yet there is no director on board.

Alina Brosh McKenna (The Devil Wears Prada) is believed to have worked on an early version of the screenplay.

Cruella will focus on the famous villain who steals Pongo and Perdita’s puppies to make her dream coat in the 1961 animated movie.

Glenn Close memorably played Cruella in Stephen Herek’s 1996 live-action remake, earning a Golden Globe nomination for her performance.

Stone last starred in the widely-panned Aloha and will soon appear alongside Ryan Gosling in La La Land, the next project from acclaimed Whiplash director Damien Chazelle.

She will be shooting the role of Billie Jean King in upcoming comedy Battle of the Sexes, about the memorable tennis match with Bobby Riggs.
