A new clip from Gone Girl has debuted online ahead of the film’s release in the UK tomorrow.

The clip shows Nick, played by Ben Affleck, being questioned by police following the disappearance of his wife Amy on their fifth wedding anniversary.

Nick finds himself at the centre of a police hunt after a number of clues in his house suggest he could have murdered Amy, including an extract from her diary that says “this man that I love could kill me”.

The new clip from the film shows Nick at the local police station unable to answer simple questions about his wife, played by British actress Rosamund Pike.

“You don’t know if she has friends, you don’t know what she does all day and you don’t know your wife’s blood type?” the policewoman asks him.

The police also become suspicious when Nick reveals he has not told Amy’s parents that she has gone missing.

Directed by David Fincher, Gone Girl is based on the best-selling thriller by Gillian Flynn, who has also written the screenplay for the film.

Neil Patrick Harris, Tyler Perry, Carrie Coon, Kim Dickens and “Blurred Lines” model Emily Ratajkowski also star.

Gone Girl is released in the UK on Thursday 2 October.
