Guardians of the Galaxy may have been a rollercoaster ride through outer space but it also contained some of Marvel's most emotional scenes to date (anyone else holding back the tears after "We are Groot"?).

The sequel looks set to be just as tear-jerking, with Chris Pratt having previously described how he cried after reading the script.

Looks like Marvel fans really will need to take tissues to the cinema because Kurt Russel's role has already had director James Gunn and Star Lord himself in floods of tears.

Vol. 2 is currently filming in Atlanta, with Russell rumoured to be playing Star Lord’s father in the upcoming sequel - a role that will likely take centre stage in the film.

Since filming began, there have been numerous set leaks, including some earth-bound shots that seemingly reveal who Nathan Fillion will be playing in the film (be warned, mild spoilers within).

Meanwhile, Gunn has confirmed that two characters from the previous film will not be returning for the sequel: Benicio Del Toro’s The Collector and John C Reilly’s Rhomann Dey.
