Harrison Ford dresses as hotdog on Jimmy Kimmel Live: Discusses Luke Skywalker's absence from The Force Awakens poster

He went on to speak about why he wanted Han Solo to die in the original trilogy

Harrison Ford may be one of the world’s most famous actors, but that doesn’t mean he takes himself too seriously.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live to promote Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Ford wore a Hotdog outfit for Halloween while Kimmel dressed up as Princess Leia.

As always, Ford was tight-lipped over the upcoming space adventure, saying that Luke Skywalker had not appeared on the film's poster because “there wasn't room”. He elaborated “there’s a very good reason [he’s not on the poster] but I can’t tell you”.

Kimmel joked “You can’t tell us anything, can you?” “Nothing,” replied Ford. “But I can tell you this. It’s really, really good.” Watch below.

He went on to praise the new actors joining the cast while also revealing why he wanted Han Solo to die in the original trilogy.

“I didn’t ask [George Lucas] to personally kill me off, I asked him to ask the writers to kill me off because I thought it would be good if the character who appeared to have not so much of a complex interweaving of the theme of the Force and all that good stuff *burp*…”

For those who can’t watch the clip, that was Harrison Ford burping on TV, followed by Kimmel hitting him with a rolled up newspaper saying “bad boy”.

Ford continued: “I thought it would be good if he sacrificed himself.” He added he was glad his character had not been killed off.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will hit cinema screens on the 17 December.
