Last week, AFI Fest — the American Film Institute’s annual celebration — announced that Scott’s film would no longer close the prestigious festival.
Now, a replacement has been announced: the Aaron Sorkin-directed, Jessica Chastain and Idris Elba-starring Molly’s Game.
“Aaron Sorkin is an American master, and we are proud to shine a proper spotlight on his directoral debut,” AFI Fest director Jacqueline Lyanga said in a statement.
“As Sorkin embarks on this next chapter of his career, his talents are timely for a tribute as he brings his gift of crafting compelling narratives and complex characters to the story of female impresario Molly Bloom.”

Scott still aims to release All the Money in the World on the 22 December, hoping to shoot and edit Plummer’s performance by that date. Whether the director can pull off the unprecedented move remains to be seen — if anyone can, it’s the Alien director.
