Michael Fassbender gives resounding 'yes' to Prometheus 2

Michael Fassbender has confirmed that a sequel to Ridley Scott's Prometheus is in the pipeline.

The Oscar-nominated actor, 37, revealed the news during an interview for X-Men: Days of Future Past with co-star James McAvoy.

Asked if he would be keen for a Prometheus follow-up, Fassbender gave a confident “yes” but admitted to not knowing when that might happen.

Reports have suggested that fans could expect the second movie in March 2016, but a date is yet to be announced.

Fassbender plays David in the series, which takes place prior to the first movie, 1979's Alien, which starred Tom Skerritt and Sigourney Weaver.

David is an android who is able to do many of the things most humans would find distressing or unethical. He can understand human emotions but he does not feel them.

James Cameron, who directed Alien, has distanced himself from the Prometheus sequel. “I thought it was an interesting film,” he said, according to the Latinos Post. “I thought it was thought-provoking and beautifully, visually mounted, but at the end of the day it didn't add up logically.”

Fassbender can currently be seen in Lenny Abrahamson's Frank, about a young musician recruited to join indie band the ‘Soronprfbs’ after the keyboardist attempts to drown himself.
