Grime was the big winner at this year’s Mobo awards, with Stormzy taking home Best Male Act and Best Grime Artist while Skepta won Best Song for his hit “Shutdown”.

Also winning big was duo Krept and Konan who won Best Hip-Hop Act and best album for The Long Way Home. Elsewhere, 'Godfather of Grime' Wiley won a Paving The Way award, as did Sir Lenny Henry. In total, there were 27 nominations for grime artists.

The awards show took place at Leeds Arena, with guests including Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain, Robert Pattinson and Idris Elba.

Performances came from FKA Twigs, Lianna La Havas and Cee-Lo Green, ITV coming under fire for cutting the latter’s rendition of "Forget You" short from their broadcast.

Sir Lenny Henry’s acceptance speech was labelled ‘epic’ by viewers, winning unanimous praise on Twitter for lines such as: “Thank you Mobos, Music of Black Origin Awards, I feel like Ed Sheeran up in here!”

Over the last few years, the Mobos has come under fire for rewarding white artists such as Sheeran, Sam Smith and Jessie J.
