This election is still a dead heat, according to most polls. In a fight with such wafer-thin margins, we need reporters on the ground talking to the people Trump and Harris are courting. Your support allows us to keep sending journalists to the story.

The Independent is trusted by 27 million Americans from across the entire political spectrum every month. Unlike many other quality news outlets, we choose not to lock you out of our reporting and analysis with paywalls. But quality journalism must still be paid for.

Help us keep bring these critical stories to light. Your support makes all the difference.

Doubts over whether Paddington 2 would resonate with American critics as much as with UK-based reviewers has quickly eroded away, our colleagues across the pond equally adoring the loveable bear’s adventure.

As a result, Paul King’s marmalade-filled movie has quickly become aggregate review website Rotten Tomatoes' best-reviewed movie ever with 165 positive reviews and 0 rotten.

The record was previously held by Toy Story 2, which holds 164 positive reviews and 0 rotten, while Lady Bird similarly broke the record last year before eventually receiving a negative review.

There are only four movies on Rotten Tomatoes with 100% positive rating with over 100 reviews: Paddington 2, Toy Story 2, the documentary Man on Wire, and French-German drama Things to Come.

The Independent’s Geoffrey Macnab said of Paddington 2: “Paddington Bear returns to the screen in a superior sequel so full of charm and good humour that it should delight audiences everywhere.” Read the full review here.
