Rapper Kanye West premieres Cruel Summer at Cannes Film Festival

American rapper Kanye West will premiere his debut art film Cruel Summer at the Cannes Film Festival today.

The short film, which is inspired by his G.O.O.D Music compilation of the same name, will show at Palm Beach in the south of France.

Created by West's design organisation Donda, the rapper promises "a fusion of short film and art installation" and an "immersive seven-screen experience".

Described as "unlike anything West has attempted before", the installation will remain open for public access for two days after its world premiere this evening.

West has previously directed music videos for his music, including 2010's Runaway.
