Ryan Reynolds has hit Hollywood's sweet spot. So much of Deadpool's record-breaking success has reflected back on the actor, since it's pretty clear Deadpool simply wouldn't be Deadpool without his infectiously affable charisma.

When it comes to Reynolds' next project (outside of Deadpool 2, of course), the actor's really got the pick of the litter. Variety reports he's currently circling around sci-fi thriller Life, written by Deadpool's own Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese.

Starring opposite Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation's Rebecca Ferguson, the pair will play crew members on the International Space Station, as the retrieval of a sample from Mars reveals signs of intelligent life.

Martian narratives have become fairly en vogue following the Oscar-nominated success of Ridley Scott's The Martian, which saw Matt Damon's Mark Watney fight for survival after he's left behind on the Red Planet.

Reynolds' slate also currently includes Truth in Advertising, directed by Notting Hill's Roger Michell; as well as dual action flicks The Hitman's Bodyguard and Criminal, which both also inexplicably star Gary Oldman.

Deadpool is out now.
