Solo: A Star Wars Story first reactions from fans and critics revealed
'Film is a blast and a welcome addition to the Star Wars universe'
Star Wars fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
Solo: A Star Wars Story has been screened for the very first time to the public and critics alike at its LA premiere, with the very first reactions firmly dismissing any concerns that Lucasfilm had a major problem on their hands here, despite the rumours arising from Ron Howard taking over as director from Phil Lord and Chis Miller.
General reactions seem to be in the realm of stating the film is a little slow to start, but that its heist-like storyline is a blast once it kicks in, alongside praise for Alden Ehrenreich’s performance in crafting a Han Solo that can bring the charm without too directly impersonating Harrison Ford.
Unsurprisingly, Donald Glover‘s Lando Calrissian is also shaping up to be something of a scene-stealer, with excitement for the rest of the supporting cast, too: Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Paul Bettany, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge.
Details have been fairly slim on what exactly the film’s plot entails, with the official synopsis reading: “Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy.”
“Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga’s most unlikely heroes.” Check out some of the first reactions below.
Solo: A Star Wars Story hits UK cinemas 25 May.
