Before the release of Deadpool, it would have been ridiculous to even think the superhero film could outgross Batman v Superman at the US domestic box office.

However, the film has achieved that feat, becoming the highest grossing R-Rated film of all time worldwide. It’s no wonder, then, that X-Men: Apocalypse director Bryan Singer is contemplating the Merc with a Mouth eventually featuring in one of the mutant army’s films.

“Now that we’ve altered the timeline [with 2014’s X-Men: Days of Future Past], there are endless possibilities,” he told Variety.

While positive about the meet-up, he did warn: “If you take a character as irreverent and meta as Deadpool and connect him to something as grounded and serious as X-Men, you have to do it carefully and gently.

“When you drop them all in together it can be a disaster. That has to be done delicately, but there’s plenty of room to do it.”

Earlier this month, the review embargo for X-Men Apocalypse dropped, with critics finding the film rather ‘meh’.
