Zombieland 2 to begin filming this summer?
The news follows Sony's confirmation it will be moving ahead with a second installment to the cult 2009 comedy
It looks as if Sony Pictures are finally moving ahead with that long-rumoured Zombieland sequel.
After confirmation the film was now greenlit, following the debut of the sequel's logo at CinemaCon, various casting sites are now stating that shooting will commence in Atlanta this August (via Bloody Disgusting).
There's still almost zero information about what's in store, outside of the return of writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, alongside Godzilla's Dave Callaham, with Reuben Fleischer returning to direct. Who knows exactly when Reese and Wernick will have time to pen the film (if they haven't already), considering they're also busy with the now confirmed Deadpool 2.
So there's no clue as to whether any of the main cast will be returning, and it may be quite the task gathering together a quartet with such busy schedules: with Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone, Woody Harrelson, and Abigail Breslin all in fairly high demand of late.
Let's just hope the allure of the 2009 cult comedy will be enough to tempt them back; with the tale of a disparate group of survivors banding together to travel across a zombie-ridden America earning a whopping $100M worldwide.
There's no word yet on when Zombieland 2 will be released.
