A re-release of Marc Singer's 2000 documentary, shot in black-and-white, which offers a startling and very moving insight into the experiences of a homeless community sleeping in the underground train tunnels of New York.

Singer captures intimate moments in the lives of his subterranean protagonists in their strange, crepuscular world.

There is squalor – we see rats scurrying along the rail lines, we hear about the widespread crack addiction – but Singer also shows the resilience and dignity of the tunnel dwellers.
